| Philothea means Lover of God, and is the title that St Francis de Sales used to refer to all Christian faithful.
Following the spirituality of St. Francis de Sales, we are Catholic Lay women and men ministers serving the church in the following mission:
- Family Pastoral ministry (married life and single families)
- Youth Pastoral ministry (in the Parishes, Colleges and Universities)
- Pastoral ministry to the sick ( in the hospitals and at home)
- Ministry to the professionals (medics, lawyers, teachers, journalists, administrators and business etc.)
We offer formation programmes for the laity on the following:
• Spiritual formation for the laity
• Ministerial formation (Family, youth, the sick, professional)
• “Life in Christ” formation (based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church)
• Retreats / Recollection monthly programme
• Spiritual Direction and counseling support
The Philothea programmes have a three-step approach to helping God’s children to grow in their Catholic faith-life:
i. breaking free from sinful bondages;
ii. growing in virtue and;
iii. growing in fellowship.
Philothea Missionary Society shares in the Salesian charism as originally received and shared by St Francis de Sales through his life and writings, and later accepted and transformed by the saint of the young people, St John Bosco, and others like him.
