About the Ministry
Philothea Catechetical Ministry is inspired by the words of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus: “Were not our hearts burning [within us] while he spoke to us on the way and opened the scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:32) and the teaching of the Church: “The Church’s catechetical mission aims to help the faithful of all ages grow in both human and Christian maturity, enriching the whole of life with the leaven of the Gospel”.
Philothea Catechetical Ministry aims at providing training for parish catechetical leaders, catechists and others throughout the dioceses and assist them in fulfilling the mission of evangelization and catechesis. We offer the following:
- Parish Catechetical Leadership Training, based on Scripture (Old Testament and New Testament), Profession of Faith, Liturgy & Sacraments (Sacraments of Initiation, Sacraments of Healing and sacrament of service), Moral life, Prayer, Spirituality and Catechetical Methodology.
- Emmaus Programme: Provides parish catechetical leaders, catechists and others an opportunity to attend workshops pertaining to current challenges that they face in the the catechetical ministry as well as workshops which provide the occasion for discussions and new insights for continuing the mission of the Church in the world in which we live.
Philothea Catechetical Ministry are motivated by words of Christ and in obedience to Him: “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20).
